Cross
Movement Ministries is a Christian organization that is
creative in its approach to ministry. We
target the Hip Hop Culture with the Gospel of Jesus Christ
through several mediums and tools (e.g., literature,
discipleship, outreach concerts, etc). What is Hip Hop
Culture? Click here for a narration about Hip Hop

Urban
Ministry: Cross Movement Ministry's primary
ministry is to those in urban areas, using evangelism in a
form that pin points those in the Hip Hop Culture in
America, a group of people that the church struggles with
reaching. Also, our ministry regularly partners with
the local church in an effort to assist and educate the
local church in reaching this unique, unreached culture.
Unreached
Peoples:
It is commonly assumed that if you grew up in America,
then you've heard the Gospel. But in Hip-Hop
Culture, commonly represented by rap music, there are dozens
of philosophies and ideologies that have either replaced
Christianity or confused the bible with new age,
humanistic-thought and relativism so that a clear
presentation or understanding of the Gospel is a rare thing
in the urban setting.

Our
Vision Statement
To see all who are
apart of and/or being affected by
Hip Hop Culture presented with
the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
|
And because Hip Hop Culture and music has not just grown to
beyond the city to the suburb, but also beyond the country
to other major cities around the world such as London,
Kingston Jamaica, and Tokyo Japan, the religion and concepts
of God found in Hip Hop music are more common in these
places than the true Gospel of Jesus Christ.
We've been to some of these places on missions trips and
have seen for ourselves the need for Christ centered away
with the current of the Hip Hop Movement. They are
found in every age range, every ethnic group, and many
cultures and sub-cultures. We've even taken a
trip to an Indian reservation in Wyoming where rap music and
gang violence is prevalent amongst the teen-agers and young
adults.

The music, language, art, fashion, and personalities of Hip Hop Culture have become key components in a multi-billion dollar industry, with worldwide impact on the social, political, and religious scene. Despite its rich cultural contribution Hip Hop has become a modern-day Pied Piper: leading its adherents into a mindless pursuit of every indulgence secular man can conjure up. This is why The Cross Movement places heavy emphasis on countering secular Hip Hop's philosophies with Biblical ones, and works to create platforms that stress salvation, emphasize Christian growth, and encourage Christian Service.

Christian
Disciple & Training:
Through helping the church put on quality, relevant outreaches we
hope to see churches that are equipped with a proper understanding
of how to reach out to the genera commonly referred to as
"X." Also, we have been and will continue to train
others to sub-ordinate their talent, desire and cultural style to
the person of Jesus Christ. And to use all of these to reach
back into their culture for the purpose of evangelism.

Our
Mission Statement
-
Our
mission is to evangelize, and assist in the
discipleship of
those who are directly involved in, or any way influenced by
hip-hop culture.
-
We
plan to be, and produce
servant-leaders, who, while maintaining
their hip-hop distinctives, learn to subordinate them to their
identity in Christ.
-
Through
utilizing various forms of communication, such as music,
literature and multimedia formats, we will produce a variety of
resource materials geared to stress the truths of God’s Word
and its power to transform society.
